Episodis històrics de gota freda a Vila-real: la riuada de 1922
Posted by: damagum in Episodis gota fredaAra que acabem de viure un episodi de gota freda, i un cop explica’t el fenòmen en sí en un article anterior, la curiositat m’ha portat a buscar informació sobre altres episodis que han ocorregut a la nostra zona.
Començaré una sèrie d’articles amb, pot ser, l’episodi més emblemàtic aquí a Vila-real, es tracta de l’episodi succeït a l’octubre de l’any 1922. Si heu passat alguna vegada per el “camí botànic”, que bordeja el riu Millars desde l’ermitori de la mare de Déu de Gràcia fins a el pont de Santa Quitèria, segur que heu vist el famós taulellet que assenyala fins on arribà l’aigua en aquella ocasió. Si no ho heu vist segur que algú us en ha parlat, i sinó podeu llegir l’article per començar a coneixer aquell episodi. Si heu vist fins on arribà el nivell del riu, us fareu una idea de la barbaritat d’aigua que degué caure en aquella ocasió.
No és fàcil trobar informació d’aquells anys, de fet aquest article l’escric amb la idea que algú podrà aportar nova informació, gràfica o escrita, de l’episodi que tractem.
Bé, cal fer certes puntualitzacions al voltant del medi físic d’aquells anys. És important saber que per aquells dies, no existia ni el embassament del Sitjar (data de 1960), així com tampoc s’havia constr
uït encara el d’Arenós (1980). El que recent s’estrenava era el de Maria Cristina, a l’Alcora, que emmagatzema aigües provinents de la rambla de la Viuda. Per tant, la major part d’aigua que precipitava dins dels 4.028 km2 de la conca de drenatge del riu Millars baixaven en busca del mar sense obstacle algun, sense cap tipus de regulació. Sols el embassament de Maria Cristina frenava una mica la força de les aigües abans d’arribar a Vila-real, en aquest cas procedents de la rambla de la Viuda.
Un cop situats, començaré amb l’informació que he pogut recopilar per internet.
Els fets es situen el 16 d’octubre de 1922. Com és normal per l’època, una gota freda afecta a la façana mediterrània. Durant la matinada es van donar precipitacions, no de massa duració però sí de molta intensitat. Els textos dieun que la major part de la precipitació es concentrà en poques hores durant la matinada. L’única dada que he trobat fa referència a l’acumulat per aquest dia 16 a Zucaina, a la capçalera del riu Millars (o de la rambla de la Viuda). Es van acumular 319 mm el dia 16 d’cotubre de 1922, i es va concentrar la major part en poques hores. És important el fet que les intenses plujes arribaren fins ben endins de la provincia, en la zona de la capçalera del Millars, de manera que el volum d’aigua que acaba al riu és molt major.
Una de les localitats més afectades fou l’Alcora, quedant enterrat entre terra, roques i vegetació arrancada. A més, el viaducte que databa de 200 anys, fou destrïut. De la mateixa manera, molts bancals van veure com desapareixien els taronjers que els habitaven. Altres localitats com Ribesalbes, Borriol, Fanzara…veien com les seves collites quedaven arrasades i el bestiar tampoc se’n salvava. Els reculls de prensa assenyalen com a la desembocadura del Millars es trobaren restes d’animals, de construccions…provinents des de ben amunt, per exemple, de Ribesalbes.
Per una altra banda, molts ponts eren derrocats per la força de l’aigua. A Fanzara, a Toga, Onda, Ludiente o Cortes de Arenoso trobem exemples d’açò. I l’industria no es queda al marge, foren moltes les fàbriques afectades a tota la Plana.
El riu Millars, al seu pas per Vila-real (presumiblement), va marcar un nivell de 5 metres superior a l’habitual. De la mateixa manera, el rècord de cabdal del nostre riu data d’aquell episodi, on es mesurà un cabdal de 2.898 m3/s. Habitualment, el riu Millars porta un cabdal de quasi 15 m3/s. A més, a l’embassament de Maria Cristina, que es trobava buit abans de les plujes, les aigues superaven el mur de contenció per 5 metres, però es creu que aquest va permetre que localitats com Almassora no quedaren inundades.
